Comment : Ancient's 'intermezzo' so to speak. An EP released to break the old era with the new and introduce the new line-up. A sort of collector's or fan's item. The drums for this recording were only recorded on 2 songs...the Iron Maiden cover 'Powerslave' and the re-edition of 'Trolltaar'. All other songs were recorded by previous drummers of Ancient since they were previously unreleased tracks picked out of the Ancient melting pot. the rums here were recorded also in 1 day, actually even worst, in 1 evening ! There wasn' t much to do really, except for a few more exotic fills and powerful outbreaks the songs are relatively straight forward. A note that has to be made is on D.GROM.M's physical situation at the time of the recording, infact, he had a pretty high fever at the time and recorded sick ! The microphone setup was again classical and no triggers/samples were used and the bass drum was 'caged' (this is when you add boxes infront of the bass drum and cover it with a sheet to deepen the sound). The cymbals and drums were GroM's regular Ancient set which you can view in the 'Equipment' section. Ultimately there was not much work put into the recording since there was no need or logical requirement for it. Another small note is that these two songs were recorded entirely without click ! This can be clearly heard since the songs have a very instinctive feeling to them. Notice the extremely deep floor toms !
