COMMENT : 5th full-length album of the cult Norweigan/Italian, metal blade records black metal act Ancient...and ultimately the most important for the band in it's latest years. The recording session lasted 3 weeks, more or less. The drums were recorded in 4 days with no-overdubs and just a few punch-ins...(for those of you who don't know what that is...it is when a song is recorded in separate parts instead of all at once). A typical metal/rock studio microphone setup was used except for an extra overhead mic placed at the centre to create a symmetrical semi-circle around the kit. this was done to highlight the smaller cymbals, which were not only many, but which DGROM.M uses a lot. The snare was a PEARL Masters Studio BRX (Birch Shell), acoustic sound mixed with a small triggered sample to add clarity. the bass drum was triggered and except for that everything else was totally acoustic, contraryto what many might think when hearing the toms. Cymbals were D.GROM.M's regular ANCIENT set, except for a few more China's for 'in studio' convenience.
