Hey guys...
been off the radar for a while as you may have noticed...
Working on a series of things.
Except for a few shows with Antonio Pontarelli, more to
come...I have been busy in the studio with a few projects.
Working on a funk/rock project with Xavier j.Nathan,
singer/songwriter and actor (recently in Angels &
Demons...). Writing and rehearsing songs for the recording of
the debut album...
Maybe we will have some sneak previews soon...
Also...busy in the studio, yet again, with the John Paul
Band...we're completing the album which ahs already been
recorded at about 75%. 3-4 songs missing and then it's down to
the mix and master. Shouldn't take too long for the
release...and there will be a release party held in L.A. All
in good time...
So as you see...tons of studio and creative work these past 6
months...

"Grom on the biz". This ties in with the Hortus
Animae memorial, which has re-surfaced the evident interest
and avoid fan base that the band enjoyed. The music business

After the holiday
break of 2008, here is the latest. GROM
will re-enter the studio this Friday (30th Jan '09) to record
2 more tracks that will make up the upcoming album of the JOHN
PAUL BAND. After this session, there will be another set
of songs that will be written, polished and recorded before
the final mix and pressing of the full release. In
the meantime...an important support tour is currently being
planned in conjunction with the completion and release of JENNIFER
ROSE' new album, which is currently being finished in NYC.

is also proceeding in the writing of his first instructional
book, which is taking far longer than anticipated. An
interview for Musician's Institute has been released and will
soon appear on the MI website. It is part of the promotional
campaign of this fabulous school. You can preview the spot here.

GROM will be appearing on the L.A. TRENDZZ TV show at Time Warner on October 25th at 12:45pm.
The show will feature a 4 song performance plus interview with JENNIFER ROSE.

GROM will be entering the studio in L.A. on the 14th of September
to record the new OPPOSITE SIDES album.
The successor to the recently released 'Soul Mechanics' (Mondongo Canibale Records), recorded back in 2005,
is still to be given a title. GROM will be recording drums in Los Angeles on a 3 day session for a total of 9 songs
that will make up the new record.
GROM will also be
shooting an ad clip for Musician's Institute as part of their
'Success stories' series of commercial video-clips. This shoot
will take place at the FilmIT department of MI in Hollywood on
the 2nd of September.
In further news...the double CD/DVD album 'Live at the Whisky' of POWERS THAT BE
has been released. GROM handled the drums for the band during their 3 month U.S. endeavors, including a video-clip for the song 'Collide' and a participation
in the songwriting of their song 'Kether' as well as their documentary DVD included in this double disk. You can purchase the album HERE.

GROM will be
playing with American prodigy ANTONIO
PONTARELLI this coming August for a show. This guy is
truly amazing. He is a rock electrical violin player &
singer song-writer who has already achieved tremendous
results. Multi award winning (including Grammy participations)
Antonio, plays some kick ass original modern rock songs and
has had musicians the like of drummer Thomas Lang play with
him. Antonio has performed and recorded with rock legends such
as Jethro Tull, Serj Tankian (System of a Down), combining
typical American modern rock with European style classical
orchestrations.

GROM will be playing a double show with him on the 23rd of August
at the Entertainment Center in Corona, California. In
further news...GROM has joined the JENNIFER
ROSE band. JENNIFER ROSE is an up & coming rock'n'roll
singer from Hollywood. Working with producer Kevin Patrick,
member of BLONDIE's band. She has already achieved numerous
awards and extensive radio exposure. Live
shows and developments will be posted as they come in.

a show with ex Peter Criss Band guitarist Jason Ebs. The
project is an extremely energetic world sound rock group
called ECOTONIC.
The show will be at the Universal City Walk stage.

As mentioned, the video shoot for this single will begin this coming weekend and features a top-notch production crew.
In further news...GROM has begun cooperation talks with the Hollywood
SCHOOL OF ROCK. A brilliant and vibrant rock music school located in the center of Hollywood (Labrea and Hollywood Blvd.).
GROM will begin subbing as drum teacher in the coming weeks. More news as it comes in...

In the latest happennings...JOHN PAUL video shoot confirmed for the 28th/29th of July. Art director Scott Meehan
(LOST, Terminator:the Sarah Connor chronicles) has joined the production crew. The single 'Requiem' has been mixed
and will be posted soon.
GROM has been hired by takelessons.com and will begin teaching for
the company in the next couple of weeks. You can learn more and book lessons through this fantastic online service regarding

A video shoot has been scheduled for the end of June.
The shoot will consist of 2 days of filming for the video-clip
of JOHN PAUL's newly re-recorded single 'Requiem'.
More news will be posted as it comes in. Furthermore, the two lately recorded songs 'Requiem'
and 'Angel' will be completed and mixed within the next couple of weeks and will be posted accordingly.
In further news...GROM has completed the recording of
yet another great instrumental-rock tune that will be featured on guitarist MIKE SHOUSE's upcoming new album.
The song 'Dead In Memphis' is a heavy bluesy rock instrumental featuring a hot double bass shuffle.
A sample of the song will be posted here as it becomes available.

| The clinic held at Dave
Janssen's school of music in Simi Valley, CA, turned out great
with a fantastic attendance. Thank you everyone who showed up
and participated ! Photos have been posted in the 'live
photos' page. A video clip will soon be uploaded as
well...once the protools mix has been edited into the video
footage...give us some time.

| GROM has become a faculty
member of the Dave
Janssen School of Music in Simi Valley, CA. This bright
new school is headed by guitarist David Janssen who toured
with Danger Zone (X Vanilla Fudge/Mark Stein), (X
Badlands/Greg Chaisson), Leo (X Black Sabbath/Dave Spitz) and
Rocknee. You can view GROM's faculty profile here.
The school
offers private and class lessons tailored for the specific
requirements and ambitions of each student. GROM's teaching at
this splendid facility will begin in June, following his clinic
which will take place at the school on the 24th of May at
3:30pm. A wide variety of tpoics will be discussed, amongst
which double bass, balance behind the kit, rudimental
applications on the kit and sound. GROM will be performing
various tracks recently recorded on the latest sessions as
well as a solo. Don't miss it !

| New concert dates have been
added in the 'concerts' section of the site. GROM will be
doing a drum clinic at Dave Janssen's school of music, which
is a professional music school that ahs recently opened in
Simi Valley, CA. This event will launch GROM's cooperation
with the school as a private and class teacher. It will be an
exciting event and everyone is invited to attend, free of

GROM will also be recording a new track for guitarist MIKE
SHOUSE, entitled 'Dead in Memphis', which will appear on
the artist's second full length album, due for release after

| GROM has joined a brilliant
professional cover band called HOOCHIE-COO,
lead by established L.A. guitarist Chris Houchin and featuring
Francesco Di-Cosmo (Evanescence, Thin Lizzy,...) on bass. With them, GROM
will be performing shows in the greater L.A. area.

| GROM has completed the
recording of the second track that will appear on the upcoming
solo guitarist MIKE SHOUSE 2nd full length album. The song,
entitled 'Alone on the sun', was tracked at Studio A of
Musician's Institute in Hollywood. Photos will be uploaded
soon and can already be viewed on Grom's
Myspace page.
The singles 'Requiem' and 'Angel', recorded for JOHN
PAUL at Red Hill Studios last month, are in the current
process of being fianlized and mixed and will be posted as
soon as possible.
New videos with LAST
EXIT live at the Key Club in Hollywood have been uploaded
in the 'downloads->video'
section of the site and on the myspace page.
A music player has been inserted in the right hand column
with a few samples of various recordings done by GROM.
In the meantime, GROM has begun writing his first
instructional book called 'The essentials of heavy drumming',
which will be up for release within the next 4-6 months and
will serve as a teaching curriculum as well. It will be a
guide for both working professionals and amateur drummers that
want to approach or strengthen their capabilities of playing
in heavier musical contexts such as metal and hard rock.

studio on Saturday 2nd Feb. in Hollywood ,CA, to record a
track from the upcoming new album of solo guitarist Mike
Shouse.

| The two John
Paul singles "requiem" and "angel"
have been completed in half day session at Red Hill Recording
studios in Los Angeles by Rich
McCulley. The songs as well as
photos of the session will be posted in the near future.

studio on Jan 19th in Silverlake, Los Angeles, to record 2 new
singles with singer/song-writer John
Paul.
In the meantime, GROM and LAST
EXIT are back at work on the completion of their upcoming
debut album.
The egrhgorius session will also be completed within
the end of the month.

The KEY CLUB show with LAST

Gruendler studios in Encino, CA, to record another version of
the egrhgorius debut album, an extreme metal/ambient
soundtrack.

Degree, a band with which GROM has been cooperating has
been nominated for 'best male rock vocal song' at the L.A.
Music Awards, which will take place this Thursday Nov 29 in

GROM is currently in the studio (The Chop Shop - Hollywood) with LAST EXIT recording songs for their future due debut full length album. The drum tracks were laid down yesterday and the band is currently working on guitars and bass.

| GROM has joined
forces with a promising Hollywood based new band called LAST
EXIT. Mixing elements of indie and alternative rock, Last
Exit's sound is heavy but emotional and complimented with hook
rich vocal melodies reminiscent of the pure rock sound that
harks back to the days of rock bands of the 1970's and the
alternative sound of the early 90's. The band features
singer/songwriter Spence Decker, also an upcoming bright actor
starring in the movie 'Looking
For Sunday' due out in spring 2008, British guitarists Reg and Rayne who In 2004, together
with drummer Robin Goodridge of rock band BUSH, formed
London-based rock band Elyss prior to relocating to L.A. and
forming LAST EXIT, Joshua Kerr, a young bassist from Austin
who worked with bands such as The Smashing Pumpkins and Perry
Farrell, as well as producers Josh Abraham and Mark Hudson and
now GROM on drums.
The band will be performing throughout the Los Angeles area
and will be entering the studio this coming week to begin
recording of tracks that will be featured on the future debut
album. More details as they unfold...

| The video clip of
the song 'Collide' by Australian metal band POWERS
THAT BE has been released. The clip was filmed on the
Hollywood hills in Los Angeles as a promotional self-produced
video for the band's upcoming DVD and Japan tour. The clip
features GROM on drums in connection with the Californian set
of live shows that took place in June '07, with GROM filling
in as session drummer. You can view the clip here.

| GROM has completed
the recording of Egrhgorius' debut album which will see
the light sometime next fall. The album turned out great and
is oriented towards the lines of an extreme metal soundtrack /
scoring.
We would also like to announce the opening of GROM's
personal monthly column on Italian top percussion magazine
DRUM CLUB. The column will be a fixed page monthly article
written by GROM on the ins-and-outs of the Californian music
scene in general and will be named 'L.A. Confidential', after
the famous cult movie. The first and introductory column will
appear on the next issue of the magazine. It will be posted in
the 'press' section of this site. |

| Hey everyone ! Finally, the first piece of
news coming to you straight from Studio City, California. GROM
has settled in and will be playing a cover show in Westlake
village on December 14th.
Also, and most importantly, the OPPOSITE
SIDES debut album 'Soul Mechanics' has been totally
completed with artwork by Niklas Sundin of Dark Tranquility.
The result is fantastic ! Check out the band's website

photos. The album will be shopped to various labels soon and
will attend a release within the next year.

| As announced previously in a few occasions, GROM’s departure from Ancient was the beginning of his relocation to the U.S.A. Grom has officially announced that he will as of now cut ties with all the projects he is or has been involved in, with the exception of Hortus Animae which will continue as is. Grom wishes to thank all the great bands that have been part of his career so far, namely

Profile, The K, K-Again, Doomsword,
Opposite
Sides, Psychorder, Andark and of course Hortus
Animae, as well as everyone met on tour and all the bands Grom has toured with in these last 10 years. Grom will transfer and relocate to Los Angeles on the 15th September, with a ‘farewell’ TV show which will air on Monday 24th July at 14:00 GMT+1 on satellite channel,
ROCK TV (Sky network) with the participation of numerous special guests. |

| The recording of OPPOSITE
SIDE's debut album has been completed. Things turned out
very cool, with many jazz and fusion parts in between a good
mix of thrash metal and death metal. Keep an eye out for this
one !

European tour 2006 has come to an end. GroM is back home and
wishes to thank all the bands and fans met on tour and all the

home before the last leg of the K-AGAIN
European tour. So far, everything has gone well and we wish to

GROM has officially quit ANCIENT. As of today, Diego GROM Meraviglia is no longer part of the cult extreme metal band’s line-up. “I decided to end my official envolvement with ANCIENT for a number of reasons. It has been a nice and rewarding 5 years, full of great experiences and I wish to thank all the other guys in the band, but I have reached a point in my career where I simply feel I need to move on. There were profound professional differences as well between me and the rest of the band and that convinced me it was time to quit.”…says GROM on an official press release.
With numerous releases on the way and an album just recently released, GROM will be concentrating on his ‘session drummer’ career as well as his numerous projects, including extreme metal-gothic prog band HORTUS ANIMAE ( www.hortusanimae.com). GROM is also evaluating numerous offers coming in, for an eventual new ‘main-band’.

| Progressive metal act PSYCHORDER, bearing a long pause after their first demo CD 'Psychorder', have recommenced work on their debut album. The album's title has already been decided and will bear the name of 'Nuda Veritas'. The 9 songs that will make up the album have already been laid out and the structures written. The band will proceed in September to define the details and arrangements of the songs and will theoretically enter the studio towards mid October. A label has not yet been confirmed but will be communicated as soon as the news is available. |

| The debut album of HORTUS ANIMAE guitarist, Amon, HATE PROFILE is in the process of terminating the recording sessions and mixing. The album should see the light in 2005. It will be a mix of classical aggressive black metal with a touch of modern madness. Very psychotic and musically twisted it will be a release that few extreme metal fans won't appreciate. | HORTUS ANIMAE have finally completed the pre-productions to their upcoming new album 'The Blow Of Furious Winds'. The drums will be recorded in September at The Outer Sound Studios with Beppe Orlando of Novembre and the rest will be recorded and mixed at Alpha Omega Studios in Como, Italy, with Ancient manager Alex Azzali. The album will be a concept, featuring an increase of variety, maturity and depth to HORTUS ANIMAE's music and will be released in limited format as a double digipack with double artwork and bonus tracks. | Hortus Animae’s cover version of Dead Can Dance’s ‘Summoning of the Muse’, featuring LIV KRISTINE (Theatre Of Tragedy) on vocals has finally been mixed and mastered, and will soon appear on a compilation tribute to DCD which will be released within the next few months by Black Lotus Records. | GroM is currently in the process of finalizing the writing of the new upcoming ANCIENT album, which is scheduled to be recorded in Italy at the notorious Mirage Studios in January. Mixing will take place in the famous Fredman Studios in Gothenburg, Sweden, with Fredrik Nordstrom (Dimmu Borgir, In Flames...) in February. A video of the title track will also be shot in London around mid February. This album will somehow be a new musical direction for the band, who has concentrated a lot on dynamics and instrumental arrangements this time around, whilst at the same time returning to the feel of the earlier 'classic' ANCIENT albums like 'The Cainian Chronicles'. A photo session will take place in Janaury and the artwork for the album completed by Fabio Timpanaro of NEON TRINITY KILL artwork. The album will be released in May 2003 by Greek label BLACK LOTUS RECORDS. |

Diego GroM M. has very recently embarked on a project called 'ALICE IN DARKLAND'. The music of this band can be discribed as a death/doom metal with a strong prog character. The band already has an album out for Nocturnal Music Recs. In the line-up of the band there is also Dhilorz, D.GroM.M's partner in ANCIENT, and ex-members of Century Media Records band 'Lacuna Coil'. The plans for now are to get a couple of live gigs going and begin writing amterial for a new and bigger album due out sometime in 2003-2004.

| ANCIENT are close to begin writing the material for the successor of the triumphant 'Proxima Centauri', also not very recently released in Japan and soon to be released in limtied edition vinyl. A few previews...the band will probably be recording in East Europe again with producer Jacob Hansen. Expect an evoluted continuation of 'Proxima...' but much deeper, darker and tight ! | Hi everyone ! I'm back from the U.S. which was a great experience for me personally. Lessons went well and a lot of photos were taken ! They will be posted on the web-site's gallery as soon as there is time to do it. So keep an eye out ! i wish to add how john macaluso is indeed one of the greatest rock/metal drummers in the current international scene, and i feel honoured and advantaged to have had this chance to study with him, I gained a lot ! |
